We are currently accepting applications for full-time and part-time fisheries technicians to assist with field work in North-Central Washington during July-September 2022, including snorkel surveys, juvenile salmonid capture and tagging work, and in stream habitat evaluations. Work will be done in partnership with a multiagency team of scientists. Transportation will be provided from Wenatchee to multiple field sites on the Entiat River. All required field gear will be provided. Work schedule may be variable, typically 4x 10hr days/week, M-F. Some weekends and odd hours may be required. Full-time or part-time scheduling may be offered, please indicate preference at the time of application. 
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • Educational background that includes coursework in biological or natural resource sciences or similar
  • Proven experience with scientific data collection and an understanding of the importance of scientific integrity
  • Minimum two years experience conducting work with fish, wildlife, forestry or other natural resources or agriculture in an outdoor setting. Work experience may be substituted by closely related hobbies and recreational pursuits
  • Safety minded and outdoors oriented
  • Strong swimmer and experience with swift water
  • Physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs across uneven terrain including slippery substrate in a moving river
  • Physically able to don a drysuit and mask/snorkel to work in the water for extended periods of time 
  • Preferred experience with capturing fish using nets, traps, or angling
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively on a small team with deference to managers, landowners, and the general public
  • Driver's license and clean driving record (background check may be required to operate federal government vehicle)

Compensation: Hourly wage DOE. Overtime eligible. Paid sick leave.
