FRyID Fish Tags
Hinchinbrook has partnered with Somark Innovations to offer FRyID (powered by DigiFish), the world's smallest RFID tag, tested and proven by our own expert biologists to allow individual identification of fish too small to tag with any other available technology. These parylene coated, UHF tags are specially designed to prioritize animal welfare with application by sterile preloaded needles. They are 16 times smaller than standard PIT tags. Tags are permanently encoded with a unique 24-character ID.
Common Applications
FRyID have been tested for subcutaneous implantation on Chinook salmon, steelhead trout, shiner, goldfish, and zebrafish ranging from 27-80 mm FL. As with any fish tagging product, success may vary depending on species, size range, body position, environmental conditions, and tagger experience.
